Yes! Most people who haven't passed their freediving course have issues with ear equalization, but mermaid diving doesn't require deep dives. In fact, it's required to be performed within 5 meters. So, don't be discouraged if you haven't passed freediving! We actually encourage everyone to spend more time in the water and practice in depths of less than 5 meters. This will help your body become more familiar with the water and will be very helpful for taking the mermaid course!
You can sign up directly without having any freediving experience! The course will start with the basics, like getting to know the equipment and practicing breathing techniques. Then, you'll practice water activities in shallow and deep pools. Even if you don't have any freediving experience, you can gradually get the hang of various mermaid activities in two days. The course is designed to be suitable for beginners!
Unlike snorkeling or freediving, mermaid diving requires you to tie your legs together and use your entire core to mimic the swimming posture of a dolphin in a weightless water environment. It is recommended that you at least be comfortable in the water before signing up.
Yes! Currently, the content of mermaid course materials from different systems has not been globally unified, and each system offers different content. Mermaids who have taken courses from other systems are welcome to sign up for the SSI mermaid course to obtain a globally recognized mermaid certification!
